On Monday I was contacted by a Lead Pastor looking for advice because he had dozens of teenagers randomly wandering into his building. It actually wasn’t random at all; they were all playing Pokémon GO and his church was a major location in the game. Pokémon GO has taken the world by storm and the church has a great opportunity before it. In just a few days, the game is already beating Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat in internet traffic. We shouldn’t simply view this as a game, or the latest trendy fad, but as an opportunity to engage our local culture and build bridges for the Gospel. Think about it, how often do teenagers wander into your church by their own volition? Click below for some simple strategies to start engaging Pokémon GO players with the Gospel.
